About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Banquet Department, the Assistant Manager will support the Banquets lead in operational and administrative aspects of the Banqueting operation, as well as in financial management. They will collaborate with the Catering and Event Sales department and oversee events personally. The Assistant Manager reports to the Banquet Manager.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide operational and administrative support for smooth daily Banqueting operations and assume leadership in the department head's absence.
  2. Monitor and enforce operational standards, policies, SOPs, and quality measures.
  3. Coordinate with banqueting, F&B outlets, catering, and event sales to ensure synergy and support.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with event contractors, companies, and hotel counterparts; collaborate with the culinary team on event setup and service flow.
  5. Ensure venues are fully prepared, including lighting, music, decoration, and audio-visual equipment; verify printed event materials.
  6. Assist in planning and executing promotional activities, maintain records, manage casual labor, and oversee financial analysis and billing.
Candidate Requirements
  1. High School qualification or equivalent; Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management preferred.
  2. Minimum 3 years experience in a high-volume, luxury hotel; UAE and hotel pre-opening experience preferred.
  3. Ability to understand guest needs, deliver excellent customer service, and motivate the team.
  4. Strong knowledge of HACCP, proficient in MS Office, and familiar with Banquet service procedures and standards.
  5. Well-organized with strong administrative skills, capable of managing large projects and events, and experienced in performance management.
  6. Attention to detail, multitasking ability, and focus on operational excellence, even during long hours.
