As part of our growth, we are now looking for a highly capable and dedicated Assistant Health & Safety Manager to strengthen our HSEQ leadership team at Saqr Port—the largest bulk port in the region.

Role Overview

This is a critical operational role supporting the HSEQ Manager in the day-to-day management of health and safety functions at Saqr Port. The successful candidate will work across port operations to ensure safety compliance, lead awareness campaigns, oversee HSE documentation, and provide guidance and supervision to the H&S team.

You’ll be on the ground, ensuring best practices are followed, managing audits and investigations, and driving a culture of safety and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and enforce the Permit to Work (PTW) program and ensure safe work systems are followed
• Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, site inspections, and emergency response drills
• Supervise the issuance and tracking of PPE and lifesaving equipment
• Lead induction sessions for employees, contractors, and port visitors
• Monitor and manage internal systems such as COSHH registers, INBISCO reports, and HSE documentation
• Support the HSEQ Manager in investigating incidents and managing audit outcomes
• Coordinate internal safety awareness campaigns, drills, and performance reporting
• Manage H&S shift rosters and ensure adequate team coverage across all locations
• Provide operational support across other RAK Ports sites when needed

Qualifications & Certifications

• Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety from a recognized institute
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (NEBOSH Diploma is a plus)
• Valid UAE Driving License
• Lead Auditor Certificate and Certificate in Training Delivery (preferred)

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 8 years of experience in a Health & Safety environment, preferably in ports, logistics, or industrial settings
• Fluency in English and Hindi/Urdu (spoken and written)
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and global compliance standards
• Hands-on experience in incident investigation, audits, PPE control, and reporting systems
• Collaborative mindset, leadership ability, and strong communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with internal reporting tools
