Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced “Assistant Design & Application Engineer” -BESS, reporting to the Chief of Product Fulfilment. This role is a detail-oriented, technical role that is central to driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and experienced engineer, who thrives in collaborative, high-paced environments.
As the Design Engineer-BESS, you will:
· be responsible for the technical design of BESS projects that will range in size from 1MW/1MWh to 500MW/2000MWh with interconnection voltages from 400V/480V to 500kV. Projects will include grid-only, PV solar only, wind only or a combination of these generation sources;
· lead the preparation, review, and management of technical documentation for BESS projects encompassing conceptual and detailed design, specifications, and studies ensuring compliance to customer operational parameters, technical criteria, certification standards, permitting, regulatory standards and industry regulations;
· review utility interconnection documents like facility studies, interconnection agreements, or power purchase agreements and ensure the technical design meets the requirements of those agreements;
· work with CAD designers and guide them to prepare site layouts, technical designs and single line diagrams;
· collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, finance, installation and commissioning and after-sales and with suppliers to ensure successful tendering / proposal submission;
· support project teams through design and RFP/proposal response, equipment submittal reviews, and coordination meetings;
· provide owners engineers technical guidance and support on how the BESS meets prescribed criteria;
· produce thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and drawings;
· be planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of work activities with other multi-discipline project team members;
· be accountable to provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards, policies, and procedures.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education and qualification:
· Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
· Knowledge of certification standards and industry regulations and codes in the Middle East, North America, Europe and Africa.
Experience:
· Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role in the energy storage industry, preferably with an EPC, engineering firm or technical consultant.
· Proven experience in participating in BESS technical design and tendering/proposal submissions proposals.
· Experience with project management and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
Skills:
· Strong technical knowledge of BESS design and implementation.
· Proficiency in preparing technical documents.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Proficient in relevant software and tools used in energy storage system design and management.
