Job Description:

Assistant Cost Manager

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Parsons is looking for an Assistant Cost Manager to work as part of a team assisting with the management of cost within a secondment role with one of our key Clients in our Abu Dhabi sector. The Assistant Cost Manager will work closely with the Cost Manager and report to the Senior Vice President. They must be experienced and capable in all Cost Management matters. This position may require travel to our Client's offices or to the project site or to the Parsons Abu Dhabi head office as may be required throughout the duration of the assignment.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assist in exercising a qualified level of cost management including cost planning, controlling, and reporting under the guidance of the Cost Manager or Senior Cost Manager.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of accurate reports reflecting current budgets, invoices, committed costs, projected-to-go or cost-to-complete estimates, budget variances, cash flow projections, and schedule of values for individual projects.
  • Help provide trending information to assist in forecasting potential cost and schedule risks.
  • Assist in managing work breakdown structures and their revisions.
  • Coordinate with the team to gather and prepare conceptual estimates for design and construction phases to support program budgets.
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of automated program cost databases.
  • Contribute to the preparation of fiscal budgets and cost performance reports for past periods on an annual basis.
  • Assist in compiling and distributing monthly consolidated program cost performance reports.
  • Support cost estimation, bidding, and job cost preparation activities, demonstrating an understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, and general construction management principles.
  • Support change order review and negotiation processes, with a preference for prior construction experience.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and clients.
  • Perform additional tasks and support responsibilities as assigned by the Cost Manager, Senior Cost Manager, Senior Vice President, and clients on an as-needed basis.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in relevant field, UAE experience is preferred.
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and commercial and cost matters.
  • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of standard software packages typically associated with contract administration.
  • Must be capable of independently managing cost matters.
  • Proven ability for managing and directing work involving complex situations.
  • Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
  • Experience with Aldar projects would be looked upon favourably.
  • Chartered by a recognized international body such as Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) would be advantageous.
