Job summary

The Lana - Dorchester Collection in Dubai is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to oversee the hotel's engineering operations and ensure optimal maintenance of equipment and systems. You will lead the engineering team and contractors to protect the asset and guest experience.

You will contribute to preventive maintenance, CAPEX planning, and project delivery, upholding standards and safety to create an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate hotel property and its equipment maintenance and repair services.
• Supervise engineering team and contractors; oversee subordinate managers and supervisors.
• Oversee the condition of structural aspects of the hotel and maintenance of grounds and external facilities, coordinating with the Director of Engineering.
• Support the development and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Assist in preparing the annual Capital Expenditure Plan by identifying asset replacement needs and prioritizing improvement projects.
• Lead and support the delivery of small CAPEX projects from scope definition to close-out, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence and safety.

• You will be responsible for the efficient operation of the hotel property and all its equipment maintenance and repair services and protection of the owner’s asset. Supervise an engineering team and contractors. Oversee subordinate managers and supervisors. Manage the condition of structural aspects of the hotel as well as the maintenance of grounds and external facilities all fall within the span of responsibility. Under the guidance of the Director of Engineering assists in coordinating the engineering operations of the hotel in line with Dorchester Collection and the industry standards to ensure our guests receive nothing but the best experience.
• Support the development and execution of the preventive and predictive maintenance program to maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and extend asset life.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual Capital Expenditure Plan by identifying asset replacement needs, recommending improvement projects, and supporting the development of long-term maintenance and refurbishment strategies.
• Lead and support the delivery of small CAPEX projects from initial scope definition and budgeting through contractor selection, project execution, handover, and close-out, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards.
• Cooperate closely with operational departments to minimize disruption from maintenance activities and ensure engineering services consistently support an exceptional guest experience.
• Will also provide advice to senior management on all aspects of engineering support, environmental controls, and the operational efficiency. Ensure adherence to all statutory regulations and codes by regularly reviewing policies and safety procedures. Ensure that all records and documentation associated with tests and surveys are correctly kept.
