Job Description

The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department (CPE) at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor position in Petroleum Engineering with specialization in Petroleum Production Engineering. Recognized for its academic excellence, the UAEU consistently ranks among the top universities in the region. All engineering programs, including the Petroleum Engineering, are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative team committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in the applicable field. The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses is a must. Industrial and professional experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualification

  1. A Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related field.
  2. Demonstrated expertise and a strong publication record in Petroleum Production Engineering or related areas.
  3. Evidence of teaching excellence or potential at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  4. A proven ability or potential to secure research funding from internal and external sources.
  5. Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Expected Skills

  1. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Petroleum Production Engineering, including topics such as well performance, artificial lift systems, production optimization, and surface facilities.
  2. Establish an impactful research program in Petroleum Production Engineering, focusing on areas such as production optimization, sustainability in production operations, or emerging technologies in the field.
  3. Secure research funding from internal and external sources to support scholarly activities.
  4. Supervise undergraduate capstone projects, Master’s theses, and potentially Ph.D. dissertations.
  5. Collaborate with industry stakeholders and academic peers to address key challenges and opportunities in production engineering.
  6. Participate in departmental committees, curriculum development, and other academic activities to enhance the program’s standing.
