Job summary

Edge Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Aerospace Sheet Metal Assembler to build Class 1 aerostructures per drawings and instructions. You will use precision tools, select correct drill bits, and ensure parts meet quality standards.

Applicants should have 5+ years in aerospace sheet metal assembly, be familiar with ERP systems and tooling, and be able to mentor junior staff while maintaining Lean manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

• Trade certification or diploma in Mechanical with aerospace assembly experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an aerospace sheet metal assembler for Class 1 aerostructures.
• Experience with aerospace OEMs and sheet metal assembly tooling (Jigs, pneumatic tools).
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and improvement concepts.
• Ability to train and mentor sub-ordinates.

Responsibilities

• Assemble sheet metal parts per drawings and instructions; use appropriate tools.
• Identify defects and ensure quality before handover for inspection.
• Train and mentor sub-ordinates as needed.
• Operate and maintain assembly tooling and ERP system data entry.
• Follow Lean manufacturing practices and safety standards.

Job description

• Interpret technical documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.
• Adhere to all quality standards and requirements for products.
• Identify any defective items and handle them according to established EPI procedures.
• Locate parts on assembly tools, mating parts and/or assemblies per drawing or instructions.
• Collect all material and equipment needed to begin the process
• Align material and put together parts to build more complex units
• Select drill bits, reamers and/or countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes per drawings or instructions.
• Assemble parts by Drill, ream, countersink, Sealing, fastening of parts/assemblies, in proper sequence and to correct size using appropriate tools.
• Apply sealant, Alodine, primer, adhesives, special finishes using the appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure assembly is complete per drawing, that there are no defects (e.g., gapped heads, high rivets, tool marks, incorrect length fasteners), and that area around job is clean, prior to putting up for inspection.
• Install bush and bearings as per specifications and standards (Press fitting using Liquid Nitrogen/HT/Dry Ice Methods)
• Install fluid/hydraulic fittings and connectors.
• Perform Electrical bonding tasks part of assembly activities.
• Championing the organisation values and performance culture at all times to model behaviours to wider team staff;
• Ability to use hand and power tools with precision.
• Working knowledge of product/component acceptance testing and troubleshooting.
• Work well both independently and with others.

Qualifications and Skills

• Trade Certification Mechanical or Diploma with relevant proven experience with Aerospace OEM structure Assembly

Experience

• Minimum 5years’ experience as an Aerospace Sheet Metal Assembler for Class 1 Aerostructures.
• Aerospace experience working for major OEM.
• Expertise in Sheet metal Assembly process, broad understanding of Assembly tooling Jigs, Usage and repair of Pneumatic Assembly tools.
• Understanding/ Usage of design models & ERP system, Manufacturing Planning, Assembly Process specification requirements.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and improvement concepts.
• Ability to train and mentor the sub-ordinates.
