Position Overview: The Art Teacher–Upper Primary will support students in developing creativity, imagination, critical thinking, and practical artistic skills through structured lessons aligned with British Curriculum standards. The role contributes to a positive school learning culture by helping students explore different art forms, build confidence in self-expression, maintain portfolios, and participate in exhibitions, displays, and creative school activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality art lessons for Year 5, Year 6, and Year 7 students.
  • Align lesson delivery with British Curriculum standards and school academic expectations.
  • Encourage student creativity, imagination, self-expression, and appreciation of visual arts.
  • Teach a range of art techniques using drawing, painting, design, craft, mixed media, and other suitable art forms.
  • Support students in developing artistic skills, creative confidence, critical thinking, and visual presentation abilities.
  • Assess student work regularly and provide constructive feedback to improve artistic progress.
  • Maintain student portfolios, assessment records, lesson plans, and classroom documentation accurately.
  • Organise classroom displays, exhibitions, art activities, and creative showcases that reflect student learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varied learning needs, abilities, and creative confidence levels.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and positive routines in line with school policies.
  • Ensure safe handling of art materials, equipment, tools, and classroom resources.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, the Head of Department, and school leadership regarding student progress.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, school events, and academic activities.
  • Support the school’s vision, mission, values, and commitment to student-centred learning.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or Art Education is mandatory.
  • Teaching qualification or teaching licence is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a similar art teaching role.
  • Experience teaching the British Curriculum will be preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students creatively.
