Job Title: Architect
Department: Project Management & Engineering
Role Purpose:
To lead and support the architectural design and delivery of DCT Abu Dhabi’s capital projects, ensuring creative, compliant, and contextually appropriate solutions that align with the DCT’s strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
- Lead and support the design development and delivery of DCT Abu Dhabi’s capital projects
- Manage assigned architectural projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with DCT’s strategic vision and adherence to International Building Codes (IBC), Abu Dhabi Development Guidelines, DMAT/UPC Plan 2030, and Fire & Life Safety Standards
- Conduct site visits to monitor project execution, assess design implementation, and resolve on-site challenges
- Provide hand-drawn sketches and quick design solutions during site meetings to support real-time decision-making
Design Oversight & Technical Review:
- Review and evaluate architectural designs, construction drawings, specifications, and proposals across all project stages, ensuring compliance with Abu Dhabi codes, standards, and DCT guidelines
- Provide expert input on material selection, construction detailing, and suitability of design solutions in the UAE context
- Contribute to master planning and urban design initiatives, integrating cultural, heritage, and tourism considerations into spatial strategies.
- Proactively identify design opportunities and present innovative ideas through models, sketches, or reports to enhance project outcomes and cultural impact
- Prepare high-quality reports, project briefs, development guidelines, and presentations for board-level review and decision-making
Shared Activity:
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities related to the role at the request of the direct manager.
- Ensure effective implementation of functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

- Adhere to the DCT Occupational Safety and Health policy, regulations, and laws, and provide help to the Corporate EHS in executing the OSHMS.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master Preferred) in Architecture, or equivalent preferred
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of Experience in Architecture preferably in Abu Dhabi or relevant role
Skills:
- Full professional English proficiency both in speaking and writing
- Arabic bilingual desirable but not mandatory
- Well-versed in International Building Codes (IBC), Abu Dhabi Design Codes, DMAT/UPC Plan 2030, and local development guidelines.
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhinoceros, V-Ray, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and platforms like Aconex and Midjourney.
- Experienced in preparing high-quality reports, project briefs, development guidelines, and board-level presentations.
- Proficient in producing hand-drawn sketches, working drawings, and construction details, with a strong understanding of Abu Dhabi Fire & Life Safety Codes and material suitability.
- Skilled in handling challenging situations with professionalism and resilience, applying creative and practical solutions.
- Confident in presenting ideas and project updates to leadership-level stakeholders, with clear and coherent communication skills.
- Comfortable conducting site visits across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with the ability to assess project conditions and contribute to on-site decision-making.
- Demonstrates a strong passion for architecture, urban design, master planning, heritage conservation, and cultural tourism projects, with a deep appreciation for Abu Dhabi’s built environment.
