Job summary

The Department of Arabic and Translation Studies at American University of Sharjah invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2027, subject to budgetary approval. A Ph.D. in Arabic Studies, Arabic Literature, Arabic Heritage, or allied areas is required.

The willingness and ability to teach entry level Arabic heritage courses is essential. Successful applicants will have native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English.

Qualifications

• PhD in Arabic Studies or allied areas is required.
• Willingness to teach entry level Arabic heritage courses.
• Ability to offer courses on UAE history, culture and society.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English.
• Strong scholarly record and relevant teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Arabic and translation studies.
• Develop courses and programs in collaboration with colleagues.
