Arabic speaking Oil Trading Accountant VS Group

The Trade Accountant at VS Group will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of the company’s oil and gas trading operations. This position is responsible for overseeing all financial transactions related to trading activities, including invoicing, reconciliation, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in trade accounting within the oil and gas sector, a deep understanding of trading concepts, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

1.2 Reporting and Relationships

· Reports directly to the CFO & Finance Manager

Internal

· Daily contact with Managers, Senior Managers & Directors to consult on financial matters.

· Frequent contact with employees from all departments/companies.

· Maintain positive working relationships with executives, Senior Managers and employees at all levels.

External

· Daily contact with third parties (Suppliers/Clients)

· Contact with external agencies, banks, auditors and regulatory authorities.

· The Job holder works independently with minimal supervision and is expected to handle the complex problems and issues related to the role.

· Repetitive and routine operations, work under pressure, detailed tasks and tight deadlines.

2.0 Generic Accountabilities – All Employees

2.1 Safety Health & Environment

· Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company Safety, Health, Environment & Quality policies, regulations and standards.

2.2 Code of Ethics

· Ensure all activities are undertaken in a professional manner in accordance with the Code of Ethics.

2.3 Firewall Compliance

· Ensure all activities undertaken comply with anti-trust and competition laws and the Company firewall policies & procedures.

2.4 Confidentiality

· Ensure the strictest confidentiality of company data and information at all times and abide by the confidentiality policies.

3.0 Key Responsibilities

  • Trade and Transaction Management:
  • Track and record all trading transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the company’s financial and regulatory policies.
  • Process and reconcile trade-related invoices, including freight, demurrage, and other service-related charges.
  • Liaise with the trading department to verify and confirm trade details, including pricing, volume, and delivery terms.
  • Analyze trade-related costs and ensure proper allocation to cost centres.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, including trade summaries, profit and loss statements, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate closing of books.
  • Provide insight into financial performance, highlighting key variances and areas for improvement.
  • Invoicing and Receivables:
  • Oversee invoicing for trade transactions, ensuring timely and accurate issuance of invoices to customers.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables, follow up on overdue payments, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Work closely with the accounts receivable team to ensure proper collection and management of trade receivables.
  • Risk Management and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and relevant regulations in all financial activities related to trading.
  • Support the hedging and risk management strategies of the company by tracking and reporting on hedging transactions and positions.
  • Collaborate with auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and ensure that all required financial documents are available and accurate.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management:
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to reconcile balances, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate payment processing.
  • Track and report on expenses related to cargo handling, transportation, and other operational costs.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Continuously seek ways to improve trade accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Assist in the implementation of new financial systems or updates to existing systems to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • General Accounting Support:
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance, ensuring proper documentation of trade-related transactions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely updates to accounting software.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management related to trading activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

· Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounts.

· 8+ Years work experience in similar role.

· Skilled in tracking budget expenses with strong attention to detail, organization, and thoroughness, along with proficiency in analyzing information, accounting, and building excellent vendor relationships. Strong Excel, data entry, and general math skills.

· Proven track record in understanding trading concepts and stock monitoring.

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.

· Strong problem-solving abilities, with a history of proactively identifying issues and independently implementing solutions.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience analyzing large volumes of data.
