The Role

The primary responsibility is to support deck operations on the client platform according to client processes and procedures, demonstrating safety leadership and continuous development in crane, lifting, and support service activities.

Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas

  • Lifting AP (Deck Foreman) shall perform and be responsible for planning, coordinating, controlling, and executing lifts.
  • Coordinate EnerMech's Riggers for vessel lifts and platform lifts as directed by the Crane Supervisor.
  • Ensure all personnel involved are competent, aware of procedures, and understand their responsibilities. Brief them on lift details.
  • Ensure availability of necessary test certificates and documents.
  • Manage client-owned and supplied loose lifting equipment, maintaining a rigging loft management database and related documentation.
  • Assist TPI with inspection and recertification of lifting equipment during bi-annual campaigns.
  • Carry out Banking / Signalman duties when required, ensuring lifts follow the plan and suspending lifts if conditions change.
  • Plan and risk assess routine and complex crane-lifting operations.
  • Supervise all lifting operations, including non-routine complex lifts.
  • Select appropriate cranes and accessories for tasks.
  • Check load integrity and stability.
  • Ensure statutory requirements and work permits are in place.
  • Identify hazards and restricted areas.
  • Prepare for emergency procedures related to crane operation and recovery.
  • Ensure Signaller / Banksman is identifiable to the crane operator.
  • Coordinate with concurrent operations affecting lifts.
  • Ensure standard compliance for routine lifts and adequate lighting for night lifts.
  • Complete reports, risk assessments, logs, and documentation.
  • Ensure a competent supervisor is available to delegate duties.
  • Maintain general engineering knowledge of loose lifting equipment for inspections.
  • Ensure lifting equipment is maintained, examined, and suitable for use.
  • Perform platform emergency duties as directed.
  • Be multi-skilled in other platform duties, including firefighting and fire standby.
  • The Appointed Person can delegate duties but retains responsibility and authority to stop operations if unsafe.

Requirements

Essential :

  • At least 3 years Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant oil & gas offshore/onshore lifting experience, with 5 years in a similar role.
  • Proper training and experience to act as an Appointed Person for lifting equipment.
  • Ability to write lifting plans and supervise critical lifts in oil & gas sectors.
  • Focus on HSE priorities and leading safe lifting practices.
  • Knowledge of international standards related to lifting engineering and change management.

Preferred :

  • LEEA-UK "Entry Exam" and 4-day Appointed Person course.
