The Application Engineer will assist sales representatives and customers by identifying the best solutions for their applications, offering and selling comprehensive product solutions from the Appleton portfolio. This role involves providing commercial and technical support to customers, consistently striving to deliver the highest standards of customer service, and collaborating with peers, outside sales, business managers, etc.
The Application Engineer will be based in Emerson FZE, Dubai, handling key customers in the MEA region.
Responsibilities:
- Provide applications engineering, technical, and pricing support to MEA customers for Appleton IEC and NEC ETO product lines, including technical presentations and quote generation.
- Understand customer and project requirements from RFQs and tender packages; generate IEC and NEC ETO quotes as per specifications and standards.
- Size and select Appleton products, review project specifications, and prepare offers and deviations lists according to catalogs and sizing software. Discuss these with the outside sales team.
- Engage in technical calls and meetings with customers as required.
- Coordinate with product and engineering teams for root-cause analysis and technical solutions.
- Ensure purchase orders align with quotations and terms before sharing with relevant teams for order entry.
- Coordinate with Project Management and Order Entry teams for order processing and post-order support.
- Obtain management approval before quoting and confirm lead times from factories.
- Respond to queries during order execution and provide scope change impacts during pre- and post-order stages.
- Maintain records in Emerson tools, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with trade and quality policies.
- Work proactively to meet bid deadlines and customer service metrics.
- Support price agreement and price book preparations as needed.
- Stay updated on product, industry, and market developments.

Requirements:
- Experience in hazardous area NEC & IEC standards for Junction Boxes, Control Stations, Panel Boards, and Motor Starters.
- Ability to read and analyze customer SLDs and schematics per NEC or IEC standards.
- Knowledge to develop wiring concepts and design ideas for distribution panels and motor starters.
- Familiarity with switchgear, MCCBs, MCBs, starters, contactors, transformers, and relays.
- Design thinking skills, including wire routing and heat dissipation calculations.
- Prior experience with MEA region standards and client specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with engineered-to-order product sizing and selection.
- Knowledge of NEC & IEC standards, manufacturing, and testing processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar modeling software.
- Certifications like CompEx are advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.
- Willingness to work in a team and make decisions.
- Understanding of industries served by Emerson.
