Job description

We are searching for an experienced Master on a "WID" dredger for one of our international operating customers. Chance to work on a good rotation schedule in Europe. Knowledge of dredging is required onboard this water injection dredger; knowledge of the German language is a pré.

As Master on this vessel, you have the day-to-day responsibility for crew and execution of this project in Germany. Investigate, understand, and respond to the needs of internal and external stakeholders. Build and maintain strategically important client and contractor relations.

Take ownership of your own objectives agreed upon and of the objectives of the division.

Manage conflict, solve problems, and mediate between different interests of multiple stakeholders.

Contingency of the productivity of the vessel is important. Be able to translate department targets into concrete and measurable goals for the division for timely achievement of goals.

Together with the Chief Officer, you oversee all operations on board during dredging activities and maintenance, and you respond alertly in unexpected (emergency) situations.

Maintain the high standard of safety for the crew and all environmental regulations, as well as the maintenance of safety equipment (ISM & ISPS).

You will have daily meetings with the crew about methods to optimize the production process. You will also act as the company representative for contact with the head of the project. You are involved in the training and coaching of others, which means you can transfer your knowledge in a motivating manner.

Requirements

  • A valid Master Mariner class-1- II / 2-STCW 78 / 95 unlimited
  • Experience as Master on board dredgers
  • 1st Officer with a minimum of 5 years' experience on dredger (with master papers)
  • Certificate of Competence
  • Seaman's book
  • Valid STCW certificates
  • Seafarers Medical certificate
  • Fluently English and German both spoken and written
