Job description

Space management is key for all the aspects of operational success including safety, quality, and productivity at FCs. From 2025 in AMET region, we dedicate a single-threaded leader (Space SME) along with one Space Management Lead in each of the five countries to standardize and improve our space management strategy in the region.

The team of AMET Space Management will lead the continuous improvement initiative and take care of all the KTLO (Keep The Lights On) configuration changes for any space management related topics.

At Amazon, Space management in FCs refers to “the strategic and efficient utilization of available storage capacity to optimize inventory storage and operations”. In AMET, we break it down into the seven major buckets:

  1. Standardization / optimization of space management configurations (5S and KTLO of space management)
  2. Stow strategy (proactive inventory placement optimization)
  3. Consolidation strategy (reactive inventory placement optimization)
  4. Bridging between Capacity Planning and Operation
  5. FC Launch Support
  6. Development of the space management team in AMET

Key job responsibilities

  • Audit all the space management related activities in FCs that they are responsible for and provide support and feedback to the operation team especially for Inbound.
  • Evaluate and approve all the space management related change requests.
  • Perform the space management related configuration changes.
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities/projects to improve the space management practice at each FC.

A day in the life

  • Space Management Stand-Up

• Daily metric review

• Daily goal setting

  • Attend the morning Inbound briefing or flow meeting.

• Understand any space constraint which Inbound faces and what type of consolidation activities Inbound team is working on.

  • Attend the morning ICQA briefing or flow meeting.

• Understand the current inventory quality from bin etiquette, damage, and Amnesty perspective.

  • Change management review

• Review any approval pending change request SIM

  • Work on any open CI activities and projects.

• Each space lead has their own initiative assigned and they will be constantly working on it based on the timeline/ETA aligned.

  • Space Management End of Shift Sync

• Share the output of the day, any escalation, and plan for tomorrow.

About the team

The team has one regional space manager, and five space management leads report to the space manager. Each space management lead gets assigned to a country to look after the space management strategy (UAE, KSA, Egypt, Turkey, South Africa).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • Shop-floor affinity and experience in Industrial Engineering, Business Process Engineering, Quality, Operations, or Logistics.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • In-depth knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and its practical usage.
  • Wide knowledge of change management and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain large scale databases and ability to evaluate the data sets.
  • BI sage and SQL experience would also be of benefit.
  • A strong record of team leadership.
  • Analytical capabilities.
  • The ability to translate operational issues into workable solutions.
