Airport Planner - Dubai, UAE

AtkinsRealis is seeking an Airport Planner in Dubai, UAE.

Our Middle East-based Airport team at AtkinsRealis is built on experience, innovation, and a proactive attitude, supported by strong technical, engineering, operational, and leadership expertise from the aviation sector.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of senior colleagues, you will perform various airport-related planning studies and assessments, including:

  • Assisting in the development of airport masterplans
  • Scoping and conducting studies on airfield layout, apron configuration, passenger terminal planning, and surface access planning
  • Data analysis, demand and capacity assessment, and interpretation
  • Benchmarking to support analysis, modeling, and simulation
  • Preparing technical reports and presentations
  • Presenting material at design meetings and project-related discussions
  • Supporting business development activities, including tender contributions
Requirements
  • A relevant first degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with a postgraduate qualification in air transport
  • Professional membership in a relevant body
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in airport planning
  • Knowledge of airport planning, including airfield, terminal, surface access, and facilities planning, with familiarity with CAA, EASA, ICAO, and IATA standards
  • Understanding of key drivers in airport development and operations, including retail, advertising, and surface access
  • Experience with recognized airport master planning software (e.g., CAST)
  • Excellent numerical skills with complex spreadsheets and databases
  • Strong accountability, ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and commitment to high-quality work
  • Self-motivated with good time management for individual and team tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to collaborate with project stakeholders, contractors, and clients

Preferred but not essential:

  • Experience with AutoCAD, especially geometric design
  • Experience in airfield and/or terminal operations
