Senior Vice President - Marsh IMEA Construction Practice

Location : Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC), United Arab Emirates (UAE)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Vice President (SVP) to join the IMEA Construction Practice team at Marsh, based in Dubai. This role is integral to driving growth, client servicing, and strategic risk management in the construction sector throughout the IMEA region, encompassing infrastructure, oil, gas, petrochemical, and power industries. You will lead client engagements, leverage your expertise to build and maintain client relationships, and contribute significantly to Marsh’s regional success.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Independently manage large, complex construction projects and lead the team in developing go-to-market strategies.
  2. Engage in deep understanding of clients’ strategic priorities, offering tailored advice on risk strategies, insurance and contractual matters.
  3. Utilize industry expertise to assess client exposures and recommend solutions for complex risk management needs.
  4. Develop and oversee renewal and placement strategies across multiple zones.
  5. Present innovative solutions to clients and work closely with teams to attract new projects and clients.
  6. Ensure high-quality deliverables and oversee placement execution.

Business Development

  1. Drive revenue growth by actively maintaining a sales funnel and nurturing relationships across the IMEA region.
  2. Identify and pursue prospective clients, ensuring a robust and refreshed pipeline.
  3. Prepare reports, respond to tenders, and participate in client presentations to secure new business.
  4. Engage with country leaders and business development teams to capitalize on regional opportunities.
  5. Organize and participate in thought leadership events, promoting Marsh’s expertise in construction risk management.

Broking and Placement

  1. Collect and process client exposure information, draft and submit placement documents, and coordinate with underwriters.
  2. Present terms to clients, guide placement decisions, and negotiate with insurers and reinsurers as necessary.
  3. Ensure timely and accurate completion of placement and deliverables.
  4. Act as a thought leader, staying informed on industry developments and regulatory requirements.
  5. Mentor and develop a high-performing team of construction professionals.
  6. Represent the practice at industry events and maintain compliant business practices.

Skills and Experience

  1. 15+ years of experience in a senior client-facing role within the construction / engineering advisory industry
  2. Strong understanding of construction contracts, insurance, and risk management
  3. Proven expertise in client engagement and relationship-building, both with clients and internal teams.
  4. Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with a focus on long-term client satisfaction.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to navigate complex risk and insurance discussions.
  6. Organized and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  7. A proactive team player with a strong work ethic and a commitment to achieving high standards.
  8. Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Extensive experience in the construction insurance industry in a senior client-facing role with a track record of leadership.
  2. Knowledge of regional markets and regulations across the IMEA region; additional language skills are an advantage.
  3. Willingness to travel regionally as needed.
