Job summary

Korn Ferry partners with a leading UAE financial services institution to appoint a Director of Financial Control. This full-time role owns IFRS reporting, the general ledger, and the close, shaping policies and an AI-enabled control model from day one.

Delegate responsibilities across policy, reconciliation, and capital reporting while preparing for external audits and regulatory interactions with CBUAE and tax authorities.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in financial control or accounting within banking or financial services.

Responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and consistently.
• Run the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, delivering financial statements to schedule and quality standards.
• Set and maintain IFRS accounting policies and provide technical accounting guidance on new products and transactions.
• Establish and operate the reconciliation and financial control framework, ensuring balances are substantiated and exceptions cleared.
• Manage and maintain the financial DoA matrix and authorise payments in accordance with it, ensuring approval authorities remain current, controlled, and consistently applied.
• Own capital measurement and reporting at launch, coordinating with Treasury and Risk on capital adequacy inputs, and transition capital planning and allocation to the ALCM unit under FP&A.
• Oversee regulatory and financial reporting, financial operations, and tax sub-units, setting standards and priorities.
• Prepare the organization for external audit and maintain relationships with external auditors, government auditors, tax authorities, and the CBUAE, remediating findings promptly.
• Build the financial control team, systems, and an AI-enabled close and control operating model — from anomaly detection in journals to automated balance substantiation — that scales with the organization.
