Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Advisor - Safety, Health & Environment to lead SHE excellence in Abu Dhabi, UAE. You will guide occupational health and safety matters, ensuring alignment with UAE regulations and international best practices while driving continuous improvement across operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Safety, Health & Environment advisory or management within construction/roads/infrastructure.
• Experience on road/infrastructure projects including construction, maintenance, operations.
• Knowledge of UAE/GCC OSH regulations and compliance requirements.
• Qualification in SMS, ISO 45001, OSHAS standards; hazard identification and risk assessment capabilities.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Advisor - Safety, Health & Environment to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this pivotal role, you will champion a culture of safety excellence and environmental stewardship across our organization. As a trusted advisor, you will provide strategic guidance on occupational health and safety matters, ensuring all operations align with UAE regulations and international best practices while driving continuous improvement and fostering a proactive risk‑aware mindset throughout the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce SHE requirements across roads and infrastructure construction activities.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with Aldar OSHMS, UAE regulations, and project-specific HSE requirements.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness programs to promote a positive safety culture.
• Review contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to approved method statements and risk assessments.
• Prepare SHE reports, maintain compliance documentation, and support continuous safety improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) advisory or management roles within construction, road, infrastructure, industrial, or operational environments.
• Proven experience in road and infrastructure projects, including construction, maintenance, and related operations.
• Proven expertise in conducting safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Strong knowledge of UAE/GCC Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated OSH competency in hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency preparedness, contractor safety management, and implementation of safety management systems.
• Advanced ability to analyze safety data, identify trends, and develop effective improvement strategies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong capability in managing safety documentation, audit records, and compliance reports.
• Solid understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS), ISO 45001, OSHAD-SF, and international OSH best practices.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, CSP, ASP, or equivalent are preferred.
