The primary purpose of an accountant specializing in accounts receivable is to manage and track the money owed to a company by its customers or clients for goods or services rendered. This involves invoicing customers, recording and reconciling payments, following up on overdue accounts, resolving billing discrepancies, and ensuring timely and accurate collections. The role aims to optimize cash flow, minimize bad debts, and maintain positive relationships with customers while adhering to accounting principles and company policies.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Email correspondence with assigned customers (Sending SOA, payment follow up, answering queries, customer complain & disputes)
- Telephone/collection follow up with assigned customers on regular basis.
- Booking & allocation of payments received from customers.
- Preparing PDC & credit card receipts once the payments are made by the customer.
- Ensuring timely collection of receivables from the customers assigned by Assistant Manager-Finance.
- Assisting PRO in arranging documents needed while visiting customer place.
- Arrangement for collecting cheques through messenger.
- Submitting the SOAs of the Aggregators according to their required formats.
- Coordinating with Operation/Sales/Traffic Fine dept to escalate customer issues.
- Following up with the invoicing team for wrong invoicing & Credit Notes.
- Prepare Customer Refund.
- Perform customer accounts reconciliation monthly.
- Sending of Invoice hard copies to customers.
- Uploading invoices of some of the customers’ portals every month with the POs & other supporting documents.
- Follow up pending payment scheduled for bank transfer.
- Preparing Daily & Monthly Debtor Ageing.
- Provide all supporting documents and other required documents for filing Legal cases.
- Prepare & provide required reports to Asst. Finance Manager whenever requested.
- Handle other work time to time assigned by Asst. Finance Manager.
- Ensure adherence & compliance to policies, procedures, ISO standards, Health & Safety requirements, ethical code of conduct & values.
Key Accountabilities:
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial records and reports.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with BMW’s financial policies and local regulations.
- Help control operational costs by monitoring expenses and advising on cost-effective financial practices.
- Effectiveness in processing and reconciling supplier statements
- Compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Efficiency in completing month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Support provided during audits with minimal findings
- Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional development.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred but not required.
- 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the automotive or luxury brand sector.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess financial data and make informed recommendations.
- Good communication skills for interacting with management and other departments.
- Time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of local tax laws and regulations affecting the automotive industry.
