Job summary

MRC Global in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone is seeking an experienced Accountant to support the Financial Controller in governing accounting methods and financial reporting. The role will require preparing financial assessments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business Accounting/Finance is required.
• Globally recognized accountancy qualification is required.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and foreign currency transactions.
• Experience in financial reporting including statutory and audit reporting.
• Strong Excel and accounting software skills.
• Post-qualification experience (min 2 years) and stakeholder management experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist financial controller with periodic financial forecasting as required.
• Control taxation, credit policies, costing and expense controls.
• Ensure compliance with legal, professional and ethical standards.
• Ensure accounting processes comply with legal requirements and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements (USA).
• Coordinate with internal & external auditors and provide supporting documentation.
• Manage resources to maintain general accounting functions and processes.
• Prepare variance, control and statistical reports against budgets.
• Prepare cash flow statements for review by the financial controller.
• Prepare monthly and annual statutory reports.
• Process payment runs to vendors according to terms.
• Review and interpret accounting data for accuracy.
• Support annual budgeting process as required.
• Support local management with financial assistance as needed.
• Support the Financial Controller with advice.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to support the Financial Controller with the control the finance and accounting methods, practices and procedures of the organization. The Accountant will be responsible for preparing appropriate financial assessments, accounting records and other information, allowing senior management to make informed business decisions and thereby improve the organization’s profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist financial controller with periodic financial forecasting as and when required
• Control activities such as taxation, credit policies, costing and expense controls
• Ensure activities comply with legal, professional and ethical standards
• Ensure that financial processes and controls comply with all legal requirements, and with best practice
• Ensure that the company continues to comply with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (U.S.A.)
• Liaison with the organization’s internal & external auditors providing relevant supporting documentation as required
• Manage resource(s) effectively to control general accounting functions and processes are maintained appropriately
• Measure performance against budgets and prepare variation, control and statistical reports as required
• Prepare cash flow statements on a periodic basis for review by financial controller to ensure cash flow is kept under control
• Prepare monthly and annual reports in accordance with management and statutory requirements
• Prepare payment runs to ensure vendors are paid to payment terms
• Review and interpret accounting and statistical information to ensure it is completely accurate before submission
• Support the annual budgeting process as and when required to ensure timely submission
• Support the local management team with relevant financial assistance as and when required
• Support the Financial Controller with relevant assistance and advice as required

About You

We are looking for a motivated and technically excellent accounting professional with:

Education:

• Degree in Business Accounting/Finance
• Globally recognized accountancy qualification

Experience:

• Bank Reconciliation and Foreign Currency transactions
• Financial Reporting including statutory and audit reporting
• General Ledger Reconciliations
• High level of computer skills – Accounting systems, Microsoft Suite – Advanced Excel experience essential
• Minimum of two years’ post qualification experience
• Stakeholder management experience to ensure effective business partnering
