Qualifications

Accountant (General & Cost Control)

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Department: Finance

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to manage both general accounting functions and cost control responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing cost efficiency across projects and departments, and supporting financial planning and analysis. This hybrid role is key to ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective operations.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting Duties:

  • Maintain the general ledger including posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Process and monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense claims.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are recorded properly.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including VAT filings.

Cost Control & Analysis:

  • Develop and monitor departmental and project-based budgets.
  • Analyze actual costs vs. budgets and investigate significant variances.
  • Provide detailed cost reports and financial insights to management.
  • Allocate direct and indirect costs accurately across departments or products.
  • Forecast future cost trends and support financial planning.
  • Coordinate with project and procurement teams to ensure cost control standards are met.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements where applicable.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in both general and cost accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and cost control methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
