The Vacancy

An opportunity has arisen for a highly disciplined and experienced Accountant to join our office in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, with a direct line of communication to the Divisional Finance Partner, this is a hands-on role providing technical support and playing an integral part in managing the finances and performance of our Middle East businesses.

This position offers a great opportunity for someone seeking to gain more experience in a demanding financial environment. The ideal candidate should have a strong personality and be unafraid to challenge when necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Financial management of the Middle East business, including petty cash, corporate credit card, debtor/creditor reconciliation, and payment runs.
  • Support for month-end processes.
  • Working capital management, cash flow updates, and support with aged debt reporting; consulting with project managers and management to minimize debtor days.
  • Providing ad hoc support to local and divisional management teams as required.
Tax Compliance
  • Preparation and filing of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Providing tax advice on VAT application and WHT impact on invoices.
  • Supporting corporate tax compliance.
Monthly and Annual Reporting
  • Assisting with monthly WIP returns.
  • Processing monthly payroll.
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Managing statutory reporting for Middle East entities.
  • Assisting with budget preparation.
  • Completing monthly carbon reporting analytics.
  • Managing the In-Country Value (ICV) certification process.
  • Ensuring project finance data is current, including tenders, backlogs, WIP, debtors, and creditors.
Person Specification / Desired Experience
  • Qualified with an internationally recognized accounting qualification such as ACA, CIMA, or ACCA.
  • Over five years of relevant experience in a similar finance/control role.
  • Experience in consultancy or professional services preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in cash flow management.
  • Knowledge of UAE VAT reporting and filing.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide insights.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and enthusiasm.
