Job summary

Apex Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced finance professional to lead the hedge fund accounting team. You will oversee NAV reviews, controls, and client relationships to ensure compliant reporting and accurate books.

With 7-10+ years in hedge fund accounting, you will drive performance, develop staff, and coordinate with auditors for year-end statements. A accounting/finance degree with ACCA/ACA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience: 7-10+ years in Hedge Fund Accounting, including team leadership and NAV review.
• Degree in Accounting/Finance; ACCA or ACA preferred.
• Strong technical fund accounting, controls, client & auditor management, people leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the Fund Accounting team to ensure hedge fund books and records are accurate and compliant.
• Perform risk assessment to ensure resource coverage for the current client base and growth.
• Partner with clients to develop their business within regulatory requirements.
• Develop and manage a team of fund accountants with performance reviews.
• Assist in developing controls and procedures of the fund accounting group.
• Provide accounting solutions for independent valuation, investor transparency and regulatory compliance.
• Review daily NAV calculations and related financial statements.
• Review P&L analysis, daily cash projections, FX transfers, and client contributions/redemptions.
• Verify performance by analyzing large P&L swings and journal entries.
• Adjust activity for accurate processing and reporting.
• Perform and review position and value reconciliations; resolve breaks.
• Review and reconcile general ledger exceptions.
• Ensure accuracy of non-security related income and expenditure.
• Account for non-standard transactions including OTC derivatives.
• Ensure corporate actions are accounted for accurately.
• Perform month-end controls and sign-off on control packs.
• Review investor-level allocations of income and expenses.
• Collaborate with auditors for year-end financial statements and data provision.
• Identify and implement process changes to improve efficiency.

List Of Duties Include The Following

• Provide technical support to the Fund Accounting team to ensure all aspects of the hedge fund's books and records are accurate and meet industry and regulatory standards.
• Perform risk assessment to ensure resourcing for the support of both the current client base and potential future growth is adequate. Assess knowledge and skill set of the team to set coverage ensuring that there is a match of technical and client knowledge.
• Act as a partner to the client to develop their business in a controlled way and meet all industry and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and manage a team of fund accountants. This will include knowledge development, performance review and control.
• Assist in developing the controls and procedures of fund accounting group.
• Provide Accounting solutions to Hedge Funds for independent valuation, investor transparency and regulatory compliance.
• Review calculation of daily Net Asset Values (NAV's).
• Review accounting functions including P&L analysis, daily cash projections, calculations of FX transfers required for funding, checking client's contributions & redemptions.
• Verify performance by reviewing large P&L swings and analysing income/expense journals for validity.
• Adjust activity as necessary for performance processing and reporting.
• Perform and review position and value reconciliations. Identify and resolve all breaks.
• Review and reconcile general ledger exceptions.

• Perform month end control processes, producing a month end control pack and sign off including review of control packs prepared by members of the team.
• Review investor level allocations of income and expenses.
• Develop relationship with auditors for the preparation of year-end Financial Statements and provision of data to auditors.
• Identify and implement process changes to enhance efficiency.

Role Requirements

• Experience: 7-10+ years in Hedge Fund Accounting, including team leadership and NAV review
• Qualifications: Degree in Accounting/Finance; ACCA or ACA preferred
• Skills: Strong technical fund accounting, controls, client & auditor management, people leadership
