Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized academic advising and counseling to students on a range of topics, including course selection, academic planning, study skills, and goal setting.
• Develop and monitor student academic plans, ensuring alignment with their interests, abilities, and program requirements.
• Advise students on academic policies, procedures, and available resources, both within the academy and externally.
• Assist students in understanding degree requirements, prerequisites, and graduation processes.
• Offer support and guidance to students facing academic challenges, identifying potential roadblocks and connecting them with appropriate resources and interventions.
• Conduct workshops and presentations on essential academic success skills such as time management, note-taking, test preparation, and stress management.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records of counseling sessions and academic progress.
• Collaborate effectively with faculty, student support services, and other departments to ensure a cohesive and supportive academic experience for students.
• Stay current with best practices in academic advising, student development theory, and relevant educational trends.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives designed to enhance student academic success and retention.
• Serve as a point of contact and advocate for students academic needs and concerns.
• Refer students to specialized support services when necessary, such as mental health counseling or career services.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a closely related field. A Master s degree is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in academic advising, student counseling, or a similar role within an educational setting.
• Comprehensive understanding of academic policies, procedures, and student development principles.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple student cases and maintain detailed records.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine dedication to fostering student academic and personal growth.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Proficiency in using student information systems and other relevant technology for communication and record-keeping.
• Familiarity with the educational landscape and resources in Dubai is advantageous.
