The School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Psychology position, with a specialization in Developmental Psychology, starting August 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the new BS in Psychology program that AURAK will launch in the fall 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Developmental Psychology, introductory Psychology, Social Psychology, and tests and measurements
  • Advise and mentor students in the program
  • Engage in service through participation on department, school, and university committees
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair and the Dean in curriculum development, program review, and assessment activities related to the new B.S. in Psychology
  • Maintain an active research agenda

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited higher education institution
  • Expertise in Developmental Psychology, with demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate psychology courses
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience within an undergraduate Psychology program at an accredited higher education institution
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, including the use of high-impact educational practices
  • A record of scholarly achievement, including publications and presentations at professional conferences
  • Experience in curriculum or program development
  • Experience working with a diverse student population
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in a university operating on the American model of higher education
  • Experience in securing external research funding or clear potential to obtain such funding
