Job summary

Lipton Teas and Infusions is seeking an Industrial Engineer to evaluate existing processes for cost savings, quality improvements and OEE optimization. The role focuses on Kaizen leadership and Continuous Improvement while ensuring food safety and GMP compliance in the factory environment.

The ideal candidate will drive efficiency, oversee consumer activities within production, and collaborate with SHEQ, Operations and Engineering teams to maintain high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing or FMCG with GMP.
• Experience with teabag packaging technologies (Perfecta, IMA), filling, overwrapping and case packing is a plus.
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts to support factory operations, shutdowns and training.
• Self-motivated with a commitment to personal and team growth.
• Proficiency in English and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Implement health, safety, food safety and environmental procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
• Optimize processes to improve OEE and reduce losses; lead Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Operate machinery according to instructions; adjust parameters and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain hygienic operations and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Escalate safety, quality and productivity non-compliance to the Manufacturing Coordinator or Team Leader.

Job Summary

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for evaluating existing processes and systems to identify opportunities for cost savings, process enhancements, and quality improvement. The ideal candidate will optimize manufacturing efficiency, improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), optimize the utilization of resources (assets/labor/expenses) by measuring current performance, inspire and lead Kaizen and Continuous Improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards, and oversee the implementation of consumer activities within the factory.

Key Responsibilities

SHEQ:

• Implement and adhere to all Lipton health, safety, food safety and environmental procedures to ensure a secure working environment for the entire team, while comprehending individual legal obligations.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of material handling ergonomics.
• Contribute to reducing environmental impacts and costs associated with utilities, chemicals, and operational wastes by optimizing eco-efficient operations.
• Foster a safe working environment including food safety and actively participate in the factory's hazard reporting process.
• Monitor product quality against established standards, promptly report any product or packaging faults, detect process abnormalities, and take emergency measures to prevent them. Proficient in conducting basic quality checks.
• Maintain hygienic operations throughout production.
• Ensure Machinery Safety and CRQS are done as per the standard frequency.

Operations:

• Operate machinery according to instructions to achieve maximum efficiency while adhering to safety and quality standards.
• Ensure all process parameters are accurately set and take corrective actions to prevent deviations from product specifications. Maintain high levels of line and machine cleanliness, adhering to standard cleaning procedures and 5S.
• Perform minor machine adjustments and troubleshooting.
• Perform machine blend and format changeovers.
• Engage in continuous improvement projects such as Kaizen initiatives and prioritize minimizing production losses.
• Undertake additional duties as required.
• Performs on time escalations to Manufacturing Coordinator or Team Leader about Safety, Quality and Productivity non-compliance.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or FMCG company with high safety, quality standards and familiarity with GMP.
• Teabag experience (particularly Perfecta, IMA), Filling, Overwrapping, and Case packing technologies with a minimum of 1 year is an advantage.
• Experience working as part of a collaborative team in the manufacturing sector.
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
