Job description

ConsultANZ is partnering with a leading civil contractor to find an experienced Zone Manager with strong expertise in large-scale earthworks. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key leadership role on a major infrastructure project in the Auckland region, contributing to the delivery of critical transport links.

Main Duties:

  • Lead and manage earthworks operations within a defined zone of a major civil infrastructure project
  • Develop and interpret mass haul diagrams for the efficient movement of materials across the site
  • Oversee the utilisation and performance of heavy machinery and earthmoving equipment
  • Ensure all works are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to achieve project milestones
  • Monitor and manage zone productivity, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Report on progress and address technical and logistical challenges as they arise

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in civil construction with a focus on bulk earthworks
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and complex work zones on infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of construction equipment capabilities and logistics planning
  • Demonstrated experience with quality control procedures related to earthworks
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
