Job Description: Site Engineer for Tunneling Project

Our client, a renowned Main Contractor, is undertaking a major tunneling scheme in South East London. They are seeking 2 freelance Site Engineers to join the project with the following responsibilities:

1. Supervising suspended internal works (walkways, landings)
2. Installing shaft cover slabs and ventilation structures
3. Constructing shaft enclosure walls
4. Overseeing the dismantling of an acoustic enclosure (dimensions to be specified)

Duties include:

• Coordinating daily and shift activities and logistics to ensure continuous progress
• Ensuring compliance with all Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) standards on site
• Managing your section of work according to approved programs, RAMS, and ITPs, and maintaining QA/QC records
• Managing labor operatives and subcontractors on site
• Ensuring availability of materials and equipment
• Working on a rotating shift pattern (days/nights), 5 days a week, with Saturday work as required

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a civil site engineer
• Knowledge of construction procedures and methods within the infrastructure sector, ideally tunneling; general civils experience considered

Rates vary depending on shift (day, night, hour shifts). A one-month contract is available for selected candidates.
