- Implement and manage workshop safety systems in line with ISO 45001 and other relevant standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments , safety inspections, and ensure control measures are in place.
- Lead and deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for workshop and site staff.
- Monitor daily workshop operations for compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date incident, inspection, and audit records .
- Take responsibility for the ordering, stock control, and distribution of PPE for all workshop personnel.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses, and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.
- Work closely with workshop supervisors and project managers to promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with legal and internal safety requirements at all times.
Qualifications & Skills :
- Proven experience in a safety officer role, ideally within steel construction, fabrication, or heavy industry .
- Sound knowledge of ISO 45001 and occupational health and safety regulations.
- Certification in Health & Safety (NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, OSHA, or equivalent).
- Experience in PPE management and procurement processes.
- Strong communication, training, and leadership skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations and write clear safety reports.
- High attention to detail and commitment to fostering a safety-first culture.
