Job Overview
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing all workshop operations related to van maintenance, repairs, and servicing, with a strong focus on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation. This role ensures the protection of employees, company assets, and operational infrastructure by implementing rigorous standards and processes to prevent damage, loss, or unwanted interference.
To ensure high levels of technical support and technical investigations for the dealer network and key accounts, in compliance with the Company’s Integrity & Anti-Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy, and S.H.E. (Safety, Health, and Environment) requirements. The Workshop Manager is also responsible for performing delegated S.H.E. tasks and duties and promptly informing their superior of any deviations.
Through effective management of the workshop team and resources, the role upholds the highest quality and safety standards to enhance organizational resilience and operational efficiency.
Main Job Activities:
People Management:
·Conduct staff performance appraisals and ensure appropriate action is taken
·Identify training needs; initiate suitable training in conjunction with DTSA standards
·Conduct regular staff meetings with team to improve motivation and communication
·Effectively manage leave, incentive and overtime payments due
·Oversee the training/competency levels of learners/apprentices
Customer Service:
·Manage the technical quality of work performed
·Review CSI ratings regularly with the team against targets and develop action plans
·Manage all customer complaints – take action to resolve them
·Monitor all come backs
Workshop Productivity:
·Establish & agree to labour sales and profit targets
·Manage labour sales and workshop profitability
·Ensure Effective Workshop Planning
·Monitor Productivity reports
Administration:
·Monitor warranty claims – penalties minimized
·Minimize outwork
Housekeeping, Tools and Maintenance:
·Maintenance of facilities according to standard
·Control all procedures for special tools –clean and used correctly
·Ensure safety precautions are adhered to
·Repair defective equipment and diagnosis software
Product and business knowledge:
·Stay abreast of industry developments e.g. new products, warranty, maintenance
·Ensure that all product, technical training is attended by all relevant staff members per DTSA
Requirements
·Provide feedback to service staff on relevant issues raised at DTSA meetings
·Ensure workshop manual are updated
Minimum Grade 12
·Trade certificate: Diesel Mechanic
·Computer Literate (preferably Kerridge system experience)
·3-5 year’s previous experience in the same or similar position
