Job description

Our Client in the Construction Industry is seeking a Surveyor. The suitable candidate will be required to set out the various positions for all construction activities accurately and ensure construction activities are built as per construction drawings.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary Diploma / Degree or relevant qualification
  • 5 years’ Surveying experience in Civil Engineering (earthworks and layer works)
  • Code 8 Driver's License

POSITION INFO:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Receive instructions from General Foreman / Construction Manager II regarding construction of layer works
  • Set out survey poles (profiles, batter-boards, toe-pegs) for construction activity (storm water culverts, layer work, center line, chip line)
  • Report on correct setting out of profiles to General Foreman / Construction Manager II
  • Determine and report disturbances in benchmark, discrepancies to General Foreman / Construction Manager
  • Set up instruments and carry out as-built survey
  • Record information and submit information to site office
  • Set up instrument (total station) to do a tachy survey (reference of coordinates)
  • Record information on survey instrument (work about), download via survey programme (R.Com) and calculate areas
  • Calculate volumes of various construction materials
