Job summary

Pro Select Consulting is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee daily workshop operations, allocate work to mechanics and staff, and ensure maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment to minimise downtime.

You will plan preventative maintenance, monitor service records, manage maintenance budgets, uphold health and safety standards and drive cost efficiencies while maintaining quality and safety across the site.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required, preferably Diesel Mechanic, Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic or related.
• Minimum 5 years' workshop experience, including supervisory or management duties.
• Experience with construction plant, heavy vehicles or earthmoving equipment.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic knowledge.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Experience managing workshop staff and maintenance budgets.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily workshop operations and allocate work to mechanics, technicians and workshop staff.
• Plan and monitor preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Ensure servicing is conducted according to manufacturer and company requirements.
• Monitor the condition and availability of company vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Maintain accurate service, repair and maintenance records.
• Identify recurring mechanical issues and recommend corrective action.
• Coordinate responses to breakdowns and prioritise urgent repairs.
• Liaise with Site Agents and Operations regarding equipment availability.
• Arrange external repairs and specialist services where required.
• Monitor workshop stock and spare parts and ensure proper issuing and recording.
• Review repair quotations and monitor maintenance expenditure.
• Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs without compromising safety or quality.
• Ensure workshop employees follow health and safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
• Supervise workshop employees, allocate duties and identify training requirements.
