Job summary

Headhunters is seeking a capable Workshop Supervisor in KwaZulu-Natal to support the Workshop Manager, oversee workshop personnel, and ensure quality control and safety standards. You will record hours, manage resources, and mentor apprentices. Strong leadership and planning skills are essential.

The role requires a Diesel Trade Test, a Code 14 license, and at least 5 years in a similar role, with Matric or higher. English proficiency and a proactive, detail-oriented approach are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support the Workshop Manager in a constructive manner, ensuring that the internal department relationships are properly maintained.
  • Personally manage work efficiently.
  • Properly record all hours worked and sold.
  • Ensure that all lubricants used are recorded on the job card.
  • Ensure that all parts used are recorded on the job card.
  • Record the use of consumable items.
  • Build sound relationships with parts staff.
  • Monitor productivity and efficiency of workshop personnel with particular attention to work execution, discipline, appearance and punctuality.
  • Offer technical advice to staff when necessary and ensure all technical information is current and available to workshop staff.
  • Ensure quality control standards are maintained including the final road test and sign off all vehicles repaired/serviced in the workshop.
  • Ensure that the workshop and its equipment are maintained in a safe and clean manner.
  • Ensure workshop staff receives adequate technical training and that the apprentices are trained in accordance with requirements.
  • Ensure mechanics report of work done is recorded adequately on the rear of the job card.
  • Ensuring that work is carried out only after the service advisor has obtained the customers authorisation to proceed.
  • Responsible for the control and operation of the unit repair and wash bays.
  • Daily review of all job cards ensuring correct clocking and warranty procedures adhered to.
  • Ensure that workshop area is clean and tidy at all times.
  • You may be required to perform other duties that may reasonably be required by Management.
  • Participate in all relevant training programmes.
  • Share your new knowledge with others.
  • Take note to do personal learning and self-development.
  • When you attend a breakdown - be courteous to customer staff and customer / management.
  • Be properly dressed with correct PPE.
  • Ensure the vehicle in which you drive is properly cleaned and presentable.
  • Make sure that you understand what the job required is, so that you are well prepared to attend to the breakdown effectively.
  • Obey the rules of the road, a El traffic fines will be routed to the offender.
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety rules are adhered to at all times.
  • Set an example in terms of time keeping.
  • Ensure a good working relationship with colleagues and peers. This includes apprentices at all levels of training.
  • Encourage colleagues to do the same.
  • Support peers and learners, do concrete skills transfer and promote an atmosphere of high levels of productivity.
  • Proper adherence to company rules regarding the use of special tools and company assets.
  • Keep your work place neat and tidy at all times.
  • Promote wellness and encourage confidence in job analysis and understanding within the team.
  • Always wear correct PPE per job.
  • It is your responsibility with your foreman to manage your hours worked including overtime, conforming to the Labour Relations Acts.
  • Keep all components which are worked on in proper assembly order and cleaned prior to assembly.
  • Maintain high levels of good housekeeping.
  • Check, maintain and report on any out-of-line items such as OHS / SHE and or other concerns which are deemed 'outsidel of company policy.
  • Regular attendance at staff meetings is a requirement.
