Job summary

Headhunters seeks experienced Workshop / Field Service Technicians to manage on-site servicing and repairs of large-scale machinery across KwaZulu-Natal. Ideal candidates will have a Qualified Millwright certification and extensive experience in the FMCG or food service industry, demonstrating excellent technical and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintenance, and ensuring excellent client satisfaction.

Job description

A dynamic opportunity exists for an experienced Workshop / Field Service Technicians to join a leading player in the FMCG and food service machinery industry.

This role involves on-site client servicing and repairs of large-scale equipment across KZN.

Qualified Millwright (Trade Tested), with a strong electrical background.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar technical or field-based role.

Previous experience in the FMCG or food service industry is essential.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.

Must be computer literate with good communication and technical reporting skills.

Afrikaans proficiency is beneficial, due to the nature of the client base.

Must be available for on-call duty every alternate week, including weekends (operational hours: 07:30 – 17:30).

Key Responsibilities:

Travel to client sites to troubleshoot, repair, and service large and complex machinery.

Conduct routine maintenance either on-site or in the workshop.

Perform equipment installations, commissioning, and client training.

Use and interpret technical documentation, blueprints, and electrical/mechanical schematics.

Run diagnostic tests and recommend corrective actions.

Provide technical support and urgent response to breakdowns as per client schedule.

Draft and submit detailed service reports.

Ensure customer satisfaction and service excellence in all interactions.

Adhere to all workplace safety protocols, both in-house and on client premises.

Maintain stock and ensure spare parts are arranged for job completion.

Collaborate with operations and technical teams to ensure smooth service delivery.

Manage and prioritisemultiple job cards, meeting strict deadlines with minimal supervision.

Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills.

Able to work under pressure with attention to detail.

Strong problem-solving abilities and sound technical judgement.
