Winder Engineer

A leading mining and resource group is seeking a Winder Engineer to ensure the safety, compliance, and peak performance of shaft winder systems. This pivotal role combines technical expertise, leadership, and project management to optimize critical infrastructure and lead a team of winder specialists.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

1. BSc/BTech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
2. OR S/N6 Diploma + P1 & P2

Experience:

1. 10+ years in winder systems (mechanical/electrical/hydraulic)
2. 3+ years in a leadership role (supervising teams or projects)
3. OEM collaboration and capital project management (preferred)

Technical Skills:

1. Mastery of winders, headgears, ropes, and HV/LV systems
2. Proficiency in PLCs, VSDs (analogue/digital), and SAP
3. Strong grasp of Mine Health & Safety Act and technical audits

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical leadership for winder operations and troubleshooting
2. Lead commissioning, repairs, and upgrades of shaft winder systems
3. Define winder specifications with OEMs and ensure compliance
4. Manage capital/renewals projects and budget oversight
5. Conduct safety audits, revise Codes of Practice (CoPs), and mitigate risks
6. Oversee the UTS Winder Department, including after-hours support
