Job summary

A leading company in welding inspection in South Africa is seeking an experienced Welding Inspector. Candidates should possess Level 1 or Level 2 Welding Inspector Certification and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in welding and fabrication inspection. Key responsibilities include performing visual inspections, reviewing welding procedures, and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001: 2015 standards. This is a role for detail-oriented professionals with strong communication skills.

Job description

Minimum Requirements :

  • Level 1 or Level 2 Welding Inspector Certification (e.g. AWS or equivalent).
  • Relevant National diploma will be an advantage.

Experience :

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in welding and fabrication inspection.
  • Sound knowledge of welding processes .
  • Familiarity with fabrication drawings, tolerances, and inspection tools.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 : 2015 requirements and quality documentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • High attention to detail, accountability, and a proactive work ethic.
  • Advantages : Experience in mining industry / equipment.
  • Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform visual inspections and dimensional verification of welded and fabricated components.
  • Review and verify welding procedure specifications (WPS) and welder qualifications.
  • Monitor welding processes to ensure compliance with codes and procedures.
  • Conduct fit-up, root pass, and final weld inspections.
  • Check material traceability, consumables, and welding parameters.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Liaise with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain inspection records, quality documentation, and generate reports.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 : 2015 and other relevant standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and compliance audits.
