POSITION OVERVIEW:

The web developer will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of all SKG Group websites and web applications, with an emphasis on both the front-end (user interface) and back-end (server-side logic). This role involves basic coding, troubleshooting, and ensuring that websites are user-friendly, performance-oriented, and secure.

The successful candidate will support and report to the IT Systems Manager, working closely with other members of the Technical Team and business units to ensure the effective delivery of its overall aims and allocated programme of work and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

The role will include responsibility as web developer for the ITSM Business Unit , including (but not limited to):

  • Day-to-day website support and issue resolution
  • Design, code, and modify our company website and other digital platforms using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Collaborate with our marketing and design teams to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces
  • Optimize website and digital platform performance for speed and scalability
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness of the website and digital platforms
  • Conduct regular website maintenance and updates
  • Liaise with external stakeholders and system developers where necessary
  • Monitor website traffic and performance, and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Producing clear and concise documentation for code and website features, workflows, website documentation and training manuals
  • Collaborate with our IT team to ensure website and digital platforms are secure and compliant with data privacy regulations
  • Provide technical support and training to team members on website and digital platform management


Requirements

  • Matric
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in web development
  • Appropriate training and/or qualifications relating to website technologies
  • Demonstrated proficiency in HTML, CSS, and PHP is essential. Knowledge of JavaScript will be an advantage
  • Experience with content management systems, such as WordPress or Drupal
  • Strong understanding of web design principles and best practices
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and techniques
  • Integrating data from diverse back-end services and databases
  • Advanced computer software skills


Skills

  • Experience with CMS WordPress and plugins, specifically WooCommerce.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as Elementor or Divi
  • Google APIs (Including ReCAPTCHA, Google plugins, YouTube, Google AdWords, Google Maps), Social Media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and other external API Services
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to manage conflict and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to deal with a demanding workload which will include conflicting demands on time
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to create project plans, scope of work, etc
