Job summary

Execustaff South Africa (Pty) Ltd is seeking a chemical/process engineer to lead groundwater treatment design and basic process engineering tasks. You will characterise borehole water sources, size unit operations, and prepare mass/energy balances with equipment specs and operating philosophy.

The role demands water treatment exposure, drafting/modelling skills in AutoCAD/Plant 3D, and familiarity with Aspen Plus; ECSA pathway support is provided. Site work requires a valid licence.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in chemical engineering or equivalent.
• ECSA candidate engineer pathway with clear progression toward Pr Eng.
• Mass and energy balances, P&IDs, PFDs, equipment sizing, operating philosophy.
• Water treatment exposure through academic or work experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Plant 3D; Aspen Plus or similar tools.
• Knowledge of HAZOP and process safety considerations.
• Driver's licence and own transport for site work.

Responsibilities

• Groundwater treatment design.
• Characterise raw water sources and define required design scope.
• Select and size unit operations: pretreatment, filtration, disinfection, softening, demineralisation, and advanced oxidation.
• Produce mass and energy balances, hydraulic profiles, equipment specs, and operating philosophy.
• Verify compliance with SANS 241, DWS limits, and client-specific standards.
• Process documentation across all six ECSA stages.
• Safety, compliance, and quality assurance.
• Cross-disciplinary coordination.
• Productisation and methodology development.
