Job summary

Watercare Innovations is seeking a dedicated Water Plant Operator Assistant for a 12- month contract at Majesty Oil – Krugersdorp. You will handle data logging, sampling, calibration, and safety duties in a hands-on environment to produce clean, safe water.

The role requires basic computer skills, NQF4/Grade 12 with Maths and Science, and readiness to work alternating shifts with standby periods. Growth opportunities within a dynamic mining-related water treatment team are available.

Qualifications

• NQF 4 or Grade 12 with Maths and Science is required.
• Experience with water plant operations is preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use software tools effectively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure PPE is worn and follow Mine Health and Safety Regulations.
• Perform sampling and testing and record results accurately.

What You’ll Do:

• Personal safety
• Plant housekeeping
• Data and log sheet quality
• Sampling and test work as well as accurate results
• Instrumentation management
• Communication and availability

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that the correct PPE is always worn.
• Completing all tasks safely within the Mine Health and Safety Regulations
• Ensuring the daily risk assessment is done and signed.
• Working odd shifts as specified by the site process engineer if needed.
• Performing all needed tasks on site to ensure that good quality water is produced.
• Reporting of all issues, incidents, problems etc. to the site supervisor that was observed during any shift.
• The operator will be required to take and analyse samples as specified by the supervisor.
• All the analysis data must be recorded on log sheets as well as meter readings. This data must be logged on Waterbizz daily.
• All chemical handling which includes biocide, caustic, hypo, and acids will be done by the plant operator.
• The operators will keep the work area clean and ensure all housekeeping is in place.
• Probe calibration is a weekly task that the operator must do to ensure that accurate results are reported.
• The operator is expected to work with the maintenance crew when needed and during downtime.
• All other duties given to the operators by the site supervisor or engineer must be done.
• Perform CIP washes on the UF modules and RO membranes when required.
• Work alternating weeks on standby, including at least 2 weekends a month.
• Tend to callouts when on standby.

• The operator must show competency with a computer. This includes but is not limited to:

• The operator will be expected to be available at all times telephonically.

What You Bring:

• NQF 4 or similar qualification (Grade 12 with Maths and Science).
• Thorough knowledge of water plant.
