Wastepaper Shift Sorter Job Description

In this role, you’ll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world.

It starts with YOU. In this role, you will:

  • Report, remove, and record wastepaper contaminants received with the Wastepaper deliveries.
  • Always adhere to safety regulations and follow procedures to perform tasks safely and honestly.
  • Main responsibilities include:
  • The removal of all contaminants from the bales that can affect the process negatively, e.g., pieces of plastic, metals, wires, boxes, brown fiber, clothing, shoes, etc.
  • Segregate the contaminants taken from these bales, e.g., pieces of plastic, metals, wires, boxes, brown fiber, clothing, shoes, etc.
  • Weigh the contaminants separately and record on a spreadsheet, noting supplier, grade, weights, and types of contaminants.

Communicate results.

  • Discard contaminants in the segregated bin once full.
  • Empty the bin once full.
  • Assess the percentage of contaminants on the bale; if it exceeds eight percent, do not load it on the conveyor and report to the RFP Machine Lead or Team Leader.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure forklift is in safe working condition, clean, and checklist is completed.
  • Report any unsafe acts and conditions.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • N3 / Grade 12 with Mathematics; Logistics and Supply Chain qualification is an advantage.
