- Use of correct washing procedures for different materials, utilizing appropriate chemicals and wash machines.
- Inspect parts for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with quality standards.
- Scrub, scrape, or spray machine parts using scrapers, brushes, cloths, chemical cleaners, abrasives, compressed air, and metal preservatives.
- Safely mix hazardous chemicals, cleaning solutions, abrasive compositions, and other compounds for cleaning parts and machines.
- Operate cleaning machines (Bupi and Proceco) safely and efficiently.
- Operate forklifts and cranes safely to transport parts into and out of cleaning machines and bays.
- Use sandblasting machines safely and efficiently to remove paint.
- Use pressure washers effectively to clean parts, regulating pressure and flow as needed.
- Perform pre-wash procedures efficiently and safely.
- Monitor cleaning machine operations and report malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Maintain inventories of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Use and maintain cleaning and wrapping tools (air drill, air chipper, gas-fueled heat, etc.) with daily checks.
- Clean and maintain facilities and equipment following checklists and Barloworld standard operating procedures.
Procedures
- Maintain a safe and orderly workplace (6S).
- Perform daily forklift maintenance, move and stack materials, load finished products, and rig machinery.
- Understand the assembly line process.
- Plan and prioritize washing jobs based on schedule and priority.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12.
- Good verbal comprehension.
- Hand-eye coordination and aiming skills.
- Physical resilience.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days.
- Ability to obtain overhead/jib crane certification within 90 days.
- Ability to follow instructions under supervision.
- Driver's license (Code B) is an advantage.
