Job description

Monthly Basic Salary (Market related, Negotiable)

Our client, based in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, is seeking a Warehouse Team Leader to join their team.

This will be a 3-month contract with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Warehouse Team Leader

To oversee and coordinate daily warehouse operations at our Johannesburg branch.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands-on warehouse experience, and the ability to motivate and guide a team to meet operational goals efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Team Leadership & Supervision: Lead, mentor, and support the warehouse team to ensure productivity and adherence to company policies. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure a safe and organized working environment. Conduct daily team briefings to communicate goals, priorities, and safety reminders.
  2. Warehouse Operations & Efficiency: Ensure accurate receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods. Monitor stock levels and coordinate inventory checks to minimize discrepancies. Enforce best practices for warehouse layout, stock rotation, and space optimization. Enforce compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  3. Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure team members follow all health and safety regulations. Conduct routine inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Report and investigate warehouse incidents and implement corrective measures.
  4. Inventory & Stock Control: Collaborate with the Inventory Controller to maintain stock accuracy. Assist with cycle counts and stock take procedures. Work closely with the Warehouse & Inventory Coordinator to optimize stock management.
  5. Collaboration & Communication: Liaise with sales, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment. Address and resolve any warehouse-related issues affecting deliveries or stock availability. Maintain clear and effective communication with the Branch Manager on warehouse performance and challenges.
Key Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in a warehouse environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Education: Matric (Grade 12) required; a logistics or warehouse management qualification is advantageous.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Proficiency in inventory management systems (ERP / WMS experience is a plus). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Hands-on approach with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
