About the Role

Our client, a leading supplier of automotive parts, is seeking an experienced and diligent Warehouse Supervisor to manage their operations in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal . This role is critical for ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of a high volume of automotive components. The supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse activities, managing a team of warehouse staff, and ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards. A strong understanding of inventory management, order fulfillment, and team leadership is essential. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess excellent communication skills, and be committed to maintaining high levels of productivity and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of warehouse staff, including receivers, pickers, packers, and dispatchers.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of incoming and outgoing inventory.
• Manage inventory levels, conduct regular stocktakes, and investigate discrepancies.
• Implement and enforce warehouse safety procedures and protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate warehouse team members, fostering a culture of performance and accountability.
• Optimize warehouse layout and workflows for maximum efficiency and space utilization.
• Operate and oversee the use of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and effectively.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring compliance with housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a warehouse environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience in managing inventory, preferably within the automotive parts sector, is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Solid understanding of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, and dispatch.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to warehouses.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer literacy, including MS Office.
• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Physical stamina to perform tasks involving lifting and standing for extended periods.
