Job Title: Warehouse Supervisor
Purpose: To ensure a balance between excellent Customer Service and Cost Efficiency by satisfying Customer Demand in a Safe, efficient, and effective manner with continuous improvement as a priority.
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
Health, Safety, and Environment
- Ensure compliance with maximum safe pallet stacking heights.
- Maintain site housekeeping standards using the 5S philosophy.
- Lead adherence to safety standards as head of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and conduct Planned Job Observations.
- Oversee safe operation of vehicles in accordance with the Road Traffic Act.
- Support a safe environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Customer Service Excellence
- Maintain good customer relations by consistently delivering on promises.
- Address customer comments, queries, and suggestions within the service level agreement.
- Supervise forklift drivers and pickers, ensuring quality and efficiency in loading and picking.
- Ensure warehouse turnaround times are met, and stock is managed according to standards.
- Participate in shift handovers and ensure accurate stock counts and effective communication with team members.
Team Management
- Manage staff in accordance with company performance management policies.
- Provide coaching and mentoring for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a healthy industrial relations climate.
- Manage employee punctuality, attendance, and compliance with policies.
Vehicle and Inventory Management
- Conduct independent checks on loads for accuracy.
- Facilitate efficient vehicle loading and unloading, maintaining clear documentation.
- Perform physical inventory counts and investigate variances.
- Coordinate with Distribution Controller for load execution and resource planning.
Food Safety and Quality
- Adhere to food safety policies, SOPs, and PRPs.
- Ensure PPE compliance, personal hygiene, and prevent cross-contamination.
- Report food safety risks and illnesses, and uphold GMP standards.
- Promote food safety culture and collaborate with internal food safety teams.
Financial and Strategic Management
- Seek financial optimization opportunities and analyze monthly performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or NQF level 7 (Essential).
- Up to 2 years supervisory experience in FMCG.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, SAP, PowerPoint, and email.
