The purpose of the warehouse storekeeper role is the daily co-ordination and end-to-end ownership of all store’s operations integrated with production, finance, sales and customers.

The storekeeper, with the help of the stores assistant, will ensure the integrity and flow of our stock, from incoming raw materials to the dispatch of final products while maintaining accurate transaction records.

Provide oversight of inbound and outbound logistics and daily planning of driver delivery and collection routes. Co-ordinate the safe and efficient operation of material handling equipment within the stores. Drive improvement initiatives and proactive approach methodologies to optimise warehousing proficiency.

This role will focus on:

Inventory Flow Management

  • Receiving and inspecting incoming local and intercompany import goods, verifying against purchase orders.
  • Storing stock in designated locations, ensuring proper organisation, identification and accessibility.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, movements, and transactions.
  • Performing stock checks and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Agree on corrective measures with the relevant suppliers in the case of identified deviations, in consultation with purchasing.
  • Co-ordinate issue and return of feed stock to production department.
  • Use of ERP to control inventory issued and returned to production – this includes but is not limited to Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Track and report on damages and discrepancies of goods received.

Warehouse Operations

  • Co-ordinating shipping and receiving deliveries.
  • Operating material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
  • Timely preparation and packing orders for shipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Following safety procedures and protocols.
  • Co-ordinating with other warehouse staff and departments to best serve and accommodate customer demands.
  • Ensure timely (adhoc and/or project based) adjustment of processes regarding warehouse work to be performed.
  • Co-ordinate receiving and initial assessment for product returns.
  • Ensure accuracy of stock location physically tallying with system and responsible for assisting the entire operation team in annual stock take.

Record Maintenance

  • Maintain detailed logs of stock movements and transactions.
  • Maintain all company and courier logistics records.

Other duties

  • Willing to positively align with the company core values.
  • To actively participate in the smooth day to day running of the office and warehouse and work with the other team members in an appropriate and effective manner. In addition, and as required, review and highlight improvements within the department.
  • Adopt and maintain a flexible attitude as a key member of the stores team and lead pursuit of daily goals on the shopfloor.
  • Ability to know and point out safety aspects to your colleagues.

Special Projects

  • Willing to participate in any departmental special project work or investigations that are defined. This will require close working with the stores manager and business analyst.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Grade 12 Matric Certificate.
  • Educated at N. Diploma/Degree level in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Warehousing/Stock Control/Supply Management/Logistics.
  • Forklift License (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AX Dynamics/ Inventory ERP or similar.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and your own transport.
  • Must be prepared to do standby duties outside working hours as and when required essential.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Must portray good communication skills with a positive and dynamic attitude.
  • Must be capable of working independently within a team and possess strong attention to detail.
  • Must be well skilled in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Initiative and persuasiveness are required for monitoring the warehouse process and assisting to optimise inventory levels.
