Job description

Introduction

The above position will become vacant at the Bloemfontein branch, reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain.

The overall purpose of this position is to facilitate, manage, and ensure an efficient warehousing and distribution service across all aspects of warehousing, including stock management, distribution management, administration, supervising personnel, and conducting stock takes.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Allocate and manage drivers for daily routes.
  2. Generate and assign route sheets to distribution personnel.
  3. Dispatch drivers and contract drivers after invoice verification.
  4. Manage unloading of goods and final checks against order forms.
  5. Plan warehouse floor layout and storage of goods.
  6. Coordinate goods delivery.
  7. Ensure safety procedures are followed by drivers and warehouse staff.
  8. Manage personnel responsible for packing correct goods for delivery.
  9. Organize daily cleaning and warehouse duties.
  10. Receive and verify orders for delivery.
  11. Ensure proper and safe packing of goods.
  12. Maintain equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
  13. Advise on health and safety practices.
  14. Inspect machinery, equipment, and workplaces.
  15. Provide and enforce the use of personal protective equipment.
  16. Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
  17. Investigate incidents, complaints, and accidents.
  18. Generate reports on inspections and investigations.
  19. Serve and act on infringement notices as required.
  20. Secure warehouse doors, windows, gates, and activate alarms daily.
  21. Monitor live CCTV footage as needed.
  22. Identify hazards and respond accordingly.
  23. Verify PODs, invoices, and returns with the administration department.
  24. Manage employee administration, including time, leave, and overtime.
  25. Arrange relevant training for new staff.
  26. Coordinate stock returns and liaise with the stock department.
  27. Conduct stock takes and manage stock losses within company thresholds.
  28. Manage customer returns and stock transfers to the cellar.
  29. Provide guidance during Warehouse Leader Standard Work meetings.
  30. Prepare stock write-offs and transfer to hospital stores for destruction.
  31. Ensure correctness of pickings for upcoming deliveries.
  32. Oversee receiving and unpacking of stock, maintaining accurate records.
  33. Organize and participate in stock takes and manage stock rotation and shrinkages.
  34. Ensure FIFO principles are followed during lot number picking.
  35. Perform daily warehouse Gemba walks to identify hazards and improvements.

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience

  • Higher education in warehouse management and logistics (preferably a degree or NQF qualification)
  • No criminal record
  • Own reliable transport and a valid driver’s license

Preference will be given to candidates residing in the Bloemfontein area.
