Job description

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall management of warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage, inventory management, and distribution of products for both organizations.

This role involves overseeing warehouse structures and procedures, forecasting supply and demand, and maintaining optimal stock levels to prevent overstocking or shortages.

The Warehouse Manager is instrumental in streamlining supply chain processes, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with ISO and health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities include international freight management, cost-effective importing and exporting, and ensuring adherence to best practices for stock storage, including cold chain management and FIFO principles.

The role also requires the effective use of inventory software to track stock movement, manage purchase orders, and resolve discrepancies with vendors.

The Warehouse Manager leads a team of warehouse associates, monitors their performance, and implements training programs to enhance efficiency and ensure the safe operation of equipment.

Additionally, they collaborate with executive management to set strategic goals, prepare annual budgets, and achieve financial objectives by analysing variances and implementing corrective actions.

This role demands strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to maintain a well-organized, compliant, and cost-effective warehouse operation that supports the organizations overall objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage warehouse structures and procedures.
  2. Forecast supply and demand while making recommendations on which items to order and restock to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock (OOS).
  3. Analyze supply chain data to ensure the uninterrupted availability of stock.
  4. Manage purchasing orders for incoming products, equipment, services, and supplies.
  5. Utilize the organizations inventory software platform to check in products and compare deliveries to outstanding purchase orders.
  6. Collaborate with the purchasing group to determine when products are missing from deliveries and contact vendors regarding faulty or incorrect products received.
  7. Allocate new equipment set numbers on new POs in alignment with Mondays.
  8. Manage cost-effective importing and exporting of inventory, inventory costing, vendor liaison, and vendor management.
  9. Maintain accurate records of inventory and stock management systems according to set standards.
  10. Manage stock storage processes (Cold Supply Chain and FIFO), including tagging, boxing, and labeling.
  11. Manage warehouse associates, monitor work performance through stock takes, equipment safety, and training initiatives.
  12. Manage consignment sets, quarterly stock takes from distributors, and maintain inventory software platforms.
  13. Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management and other team leads.
  14. Plan staff progression and development.
  15. Ensure implementation and adherence to ISO / Health and Safety requirements.
  16. Achieve financial objectives by preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
Educational and Certification Requirements
  • Minimum: Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
  • A diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in Inventory or Supply Chain Management.

  • Experience in team leadership, training, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience in staff development and progression planning.
