Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and a commitment to quality;
Coordinate activities of all personnel in this department;
Monitor timekeeping of personnel in this department and approve leave;
Ensure that all staff in this department are informed of any changes to codes and regulations of the company;
Recruit, select, train, assign, counsel and discipline staff;
Manage warehouse operational assets, for example but not limited to the fleet, forklift, storage equipment, etc.;
Maintain the effective and efficient use of the operational assets;
Be able to take corrective measures to control operational expenditure;
If required, develop and adapt warehouse operations systems by evaluating product handling, storage and distribution requirements;
Develop, implement, enforce and evaluate policies and procedures;
Plan layout and flow of warehouse design;
Evaluate efficiencies, make recommendations and implement changes to warehouse design;
Enforce standards and procedures in compliance with Health and Safety legal regulations;
Implement security protocols and measures to control access and protect premises and stock;
Supervise and ensure the accurate and timeous picking and packing of medicines;
Co-ordinate priorities and direct the activities of the workers concerned with picking, packing and checking of medicines;
Ensure that thermolabile products are stored and distributed under temperature controlled conditions and that the cold chain is efficiently maintained;
Implement the cleaning programmes to ensure that the department is kept neat and clean and free from product contamination;
Ensure that the cleaning logs are completed, signed and filed. In addition to this audit the cleaning log on a regular basis;
Supervise and manage the systems in place to guarantee effective stock rotation;
Ensure that no stock leaves the department without being packed securely and with the correct paperwork;
Ensure that personnel are only allowed in their designated areas;
Ensure that no unauthorised personnel have access to the Pharmacy;
Ensure that temperatures in the designated areas are monitored and recorded and that these records are signed and filed;
Ensure that any temperature deviations are reported to the Responsible Pharmacist;
Ensure that no stock is kept on the floor;
Ensure that any deviations in procedures are brought to the attention of the Responsible Pharmacist;
Oversee stock take;
Oversee and perform batch audits;
Oversee the removal of damaged goods, expired goods and short dated goods and ensure that they are removed from the saleable stock and placed in the designated area marked for these goods;
Participate in the Good Distribution Practice/Good Warehousing Practice and SOP training of subordinates.
