The Warehouse Manager oversees all warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage, inventory management, and distribution of goods. This role is responsible for leading warehouse staff, optimizing processes, implementing safety protocols, and utilizing technology to maximize productivity while minimizing costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Warehouse Operations Management
- Supervise daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatching.
- Ensure accurate inventory control through cycle counts, stock audits, and reconciliation.
- Implement lean warehousing practices to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Lead, train, and motivate warehouse staff, supervisors, and forklift operators.
- Schedule shifts, assign tasks, and monitor performance.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Inventory & Stock Control- Maintain optimal stock levels to prevent overstocking or shortages.
- Use WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) for real-time tracking (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Fishbowl).
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, damages, or losses.
Health & Safety Compliance- Enforce OSHA / Warehouse safety standards (PPE, forklift operations, fire safety).
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
- Implement barcode / RFID scanning, automation, and robotics where applicable.
- Optimize warehouse layout for space utilization and workflow efficiency.
- Analyze warehouse KPIs (order accuracy, picking speed, inventory turnover).
- Liaise with transporters, suppliers, and procurement teams for smooth inbound / outbound logistics.
- Manage 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) partnerships if applicable.
- Oversee reverse logistics (returns, recalls, and recycling).
Technical Skills- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) – SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics
- Inventory Control – FIFO, LIFO, Just-in-Time (JIT)
- Forklift & Equipment Knowledge – Reach trucks, pallet jacks, conveyor systems
- Data Analysis – Reporting on stock levels, order accuracy, and efficiency metrics
- Lean / Six Sigma – Process optimization and waste reduction
Soft Skills- Leadership & Team Management – Ability to supervise large teams
- Problem-Solving – Handling logistical bottlenecks and stock discrepancies
- Attention to Detail – Ensuring order accuracy and documentation
- Communication – Coordinating with suppliers, drivers, and management
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Diploma / Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Warehouse Professional (CWP)
- Six Sigma (Yellow / Green Belt) for process improvement
Experience:
- 5+ years in warehouse operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in retail, FMCG, manufacturing, or e-commerce warehousing.
- Familiarity with automated warehouses and robotics is a plus.
